The dishes in Guppy’s Hanami festival menu are a beautiful amalgamation of colours and flavours of spring, just like the cherry blossoms that signify the festival. The Rainbow Roll, made from salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, and crab, is a visual delight with its vibrant colours and a delicious mix of flavours. Chef Anuradha Medhora, Founder of Charoli Foods, has collaborated with Ishaara for a two-week culinary celebration titled “The Rise of the Marathas.” We had the chance to attend and savour a range of regal delights showcasing the rich expanse of Maratha cuisine. We began with delectable veg appetisers with fascinating stories: White Maharani’s Batla Nevri and Dewas che Upas Vade. We moved on to a saffron-infused chicken delight, Sangli che Komdi Kebab and aromatic meatballs, Thanjavur chi Sunthi. We paired our dishes with special cocktails inspired by the ingredients of Maratha cuisine. Don’t miss the Konkan Queen (kokum, sparkling wine, and talgola) and the Raje’s G&T (saffron, gin and cucumber). Just a few dishes in and we were already marvelling at the diversity of flavours on our plates! The main course continued to wow, with delicacies ranging from the delicately sweet Mudhol chi Kaju Curry and the comforting Sailor Sardars of Gwalior Kombdi Curry to the wholesome Baroda Pulav and Gwalior Mutton Barbat. A personal favourite was the slow-cooked Devas Senior Hirva Keema. Home-style Shrikhand with Alphonso and Puran poli with Amti provided the perfectly sweet ending to our night.
